Delete Your SHARE Account
This page explains how to delete your SHARE account (developer: SHARE) and what happens to your data when you do. SHARE is the expense-splitting app published on Google Play and the App Store.
Delete your account from within the app
The fastest way to delete your account is directly in the SHARE app:
- Open the SHARE app and make sure you are signed in.
- Open the Account tab.
- Tap Account management.
- Choose Delete account and confirm when prompted.
Before an account can be deleted, you must first settle all outstanding balances and leave all groups — this makes sure no shared debts are left unresolved for other members. Once that’s done, deletion takes effect immediately.
Delete your account by email
If you can’t access the app — for example, you’ve uninstalled it or can’t sign in — email us at support@shareapp.one from the email address associated with your account, with the subject “Delete my account.” We verify ownership of the address and complete the deletion within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
What data is deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your sign-in credentials and linked Google/Apple sign-in connections, so the account can no longer be accessed.
- Your email address and phone number, which are released so they can start a fresh account if you sign up again.
- Your friend connections and any pending friend requests you sent or received.
- Your contacts data, precise location tags, receipt images, and voice recordings that are not part of a shared group record.
- Device identifiers and push-notification tokens associated with your account.
What data is kept, and why
SHARE is a shared, collaborative ledger. To keep the expense history and balances accurate for the other members of groups you took part in, a limited amount of information is retained after deletion:
- Shared expenses, settlements, and group history you were part of remain visible to the other members of those groups, so their records and balances stay consistent.
- Your display name and profile photo may still appear next to those historical shared entries, so other members can tell who an expense involved.
Where it is not needed for shared history, personal information is deleted or anonymized. We may also retain a minimal record where required to comply with legal, tax, or fraud-prevention obligations, for the period required by law.
Retention period
Data marked for deletion is removed immediately or, at the latest, within 30 days. Backup copies are purged on our regular backup rotation, within 90 days. Records kept for shared group history or legal obligations are retained only for as long as that purpose requires.
